Trying To Impress You (Single Song)

He had a line he’d practiced. She liked him better when he forgot it.

“Trying to Impress You” is a desert indie country duet by Kim Cross and Mark DenHartigh about two people catching each other’s eye across the room. Mark sings the first half from his side, wondering if that smile was meant for him. Then Kim takes over, and we find out she was hoping he’d come a little closer all along. Dusty acoustic strumming and a touch of tremolo guitar give the song a warm Americana feel, with a soft final line that lets him in on her secret.
